What is Sri Sathya Sai Balavikas?
Bala means Child and Vikas means Blossoming.
Balavikas nurtures "Blossoming of the Child".
In Swami’s words, “Education must instill the fundamental human values. Education must promote ethical behavior. It must foster self-control. This is the essential function of education”.
This is a voluntary program formulated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to inculcate Human Values in the young, growing minds. It was commenced in the year 1969 as Bala Vihar, and was re-named as Balavikas in 1971 by Bhagawan. This is an informal 9 year spiritual education system imparting noble human values in children. The teachers and organizers put their time and effort because of their love to Swami.
Aims of Balavikas:
Raise a generation of boys and girls who have a clean and clear conscience.
Engender in children a desire to be of service to all humanity.
Enables the child to have a Balanced State of Mind to Face the Challenges of the World.
Development in all five fronts.
